Burlingame when he flew out of Steeple Morden with the 358th FS/355th FG, this aircraft was lost on 28 August, 1944. The pilot at the time, Lt. William W Tolby successfully bailed out and evaded capture, returning to friendly lines and, presumably, to active flying with the 358th.
