Goodwood Member Registered: November 2005 Posts: 63 users gallery	This is a C model P-51 Mustang that operated with the 2nd Fighter Squadron of the 52nd Fighter Group, wich was part of the 15th U.S. Army Air Force in Italy in 1944. This unit used the same squadron ID letters as that used by the 4th Fighter Group, based in England along with the rest of the 8th AAF. Later in the war, the group's characteristic yellow band surrounded by black borders would be increased to cover the entire tail section aft of the star-and-bar markings, including the elevators. This practice was continued on the unit's D model Mustangs.
