Lt.Gustav Salffner, Jahrgang 1922, geboren in München, Wehrdienst ab 1940 an der LKS1 Dresden Klotsche, 1942 verlegt an die LKS5 bei Paris, wurde dann dem ErgG.JG27 in Avignon zugeteilt. Erste Einsätze auf Me 109F. 1943 zum SG2 verlegt nach Warschau mit Einsätzen am Dnepr, erlebte den Rückzug bis nach Rumänien. Von dort Versetzung zur II./JG300 als Staffelkapitän der 7.Staffel.
Von 1944-1945 Einsätze in der Reichsverteidigung in Süddeutschland. In dieser Zeit flog er die Fw 190A8 und später auch eine Fw 190D9 bis zum 3.5.1945, dann Aufgabe der Fw 190D9 bei Salzburg.
Bis Mai 1945 erzielte er 7 bestätigte und 7 unbestätigte Abschüsse, ohne je selbst abgeschossen zu werden.
