Walk around Fokker D.XXI wreck Luchtoorlogmuseum Crash 40-50
This is the wreck of the Dutch D.XXI with regostration 229. At the moment it was shot down by Bf-110's it was flown by sergeant-vlieger Koos Roos. With two other D.XXI's he was escorting two Fokker T.V bombers on the way back from bombing a small bridge near Rotterdam. They were jumped by twelve Bf-110's, which downed one T.V. The other T.V and a D.XXI managed to escape to Schiphol and Buiksloot.
One D.XXI was shot down, but only after he shot down one or two Bf-110's. That left Koos Roos alone with three Bf-110's on his tail. When he decided to jettison the canopy to jump, it hit one of the Bf-110's which crashed due to the damage done. This made Koos decide to hide in nearby clouds. When he left the clouds again he was on the tail of one of the Bf-110's and he shot it. By soon after that he got hit himself and the D.XXI went down burning. Injured and with difficulty he managed to escape with his parachute.
