Re: MiG 3 Early Production Short Nose

Everything is done for now. This Profile here is one based on a photo in my book collection.

Re: MiG 3 Early Production Short Nose

Looks very good.
I have a comment to make about the exaust stain though...
Exaust stains are never paralel to the centerline of the aircraft because they follow the airflow pattern over the wing so it should have been curved...

Re: MiG 3 Early Production Short Nose

That's true for some aircraft like the P-51, Bf-109 etc. But you also need to understand the high placement of the exhaust for the MiG 3 which had placed it out of the boundary effects from the wing root. Lastly, I followed the stain pattern from the real MiG 3 "White 17" that flies in Russia currently! Can't beat that for reference! But thanks for reminding me regardless!

Now, here is White 36. Stablemate to White 42 above. But this time we show the radio mast and radio equipment installed plus this MiG 3 is painted in the second type paint scheme associated with this aircraft.

Re: MiG 3 Early Production Short Nose

OK!
I have to stick my hands up to that...
I thought that although the high exaust pipe placement still a slight curve should have been there but I can't beat photographic evidence.
Good job!

Re: MiG 3 Early Production Short Nose

Yet again another MiG 3, but this time in Romanian markings.

Also note that I fixed the propeller blades to their correct orientation! OOPS!

OOPS again! I also fixed the tail unit as well. Sorry folks!

Re: MiG 3 Early Production Short Nose

My suggestion.
Nice profile BUT try to get rid off the outline around the parts...body, propeller wings..shade it a bit more if it is not visible after removing it..it will look more plastic

Humm...

OK, Hows this?
I refined the shadowing, Highlights and gave the wing and Stabs a better appearance. Modified panel lines and little bits and pieces here and there.

Re: MiG 3 Early Production Short Nose

Yup it does when you keep working at it.

I also went back to redid some of the earlier ones and this is one of them.
