Well ladies and gentlemen we have lost our host for the time being.
Phoenix was being hosted for a long time by a friend at no cost, a factor for which I am extremely grateful. However, this option is no longer available to us and we find ourselves looking for a new home for our brand new (almost ready) website.

Unfortunately I have very little to no knowledge on the pro’s and cons of web hosting.
If anyone out there knows of any decent hosts please let me know.
The site is going to be very simple with around 40-50 pages, no fangly dangly moving gfx and very little java. At the moment it is just under 10mb. I am not expecting vast amounts of traffic, but would like some headroom if things do look like taking off.

All suggestions would be appreciated and investigated.
The Phoenix-Art link currently points to the new owner of “dogfighters” (alright if you are a dog lover, but not much help to those who are interested in buying an A3 profile in print).

Dear Jesters-Ink,

Had identical problem years ago. I have since hosted my site with bizland.com (based in US) for past 5 years; service is excellent and their downtime minimal. I suggest you take out your own domain such as www.phoenix-art.com or such like. Anyways, look around but I think you will find Bizland about as good as it gets,

I use 1&1 and am very satisfied with it. Total cost for web hosting with domain name (gaetanmarie.com) is 23 euros per year IIRC. In my experience, it's worth it. My past experience with the Yahoo! Geocities server and other free servers was lousy: you have to cope with ads you can't control (and which won't give you any money) and the bandwidth is ridiculous.

What you're describing (reasonable-sized site, medium bandwith need, etc.) should not be very expensive.

Another advantage IMO is that you can have several subdomains as well, to post other websites. That's what I'm doing with mustang.gaetanmarie.com and ghostgrey.gaetanmarie.com : I didn't want to pay for another hosting account so I just created subdomains.
