I know I'm being harsh here: it's just a work on progress for the moment so I should refrain myself a bit. It's just that your bird has something to it and I wouldn't like to see it spoiled by such a simple thing. In most cases you can do very little canvas effect, or even none and it will still look natural. It definitely won't if you do too much.
In any case, I'm looking forward to the next stage. Good work.
