Re: Thunderbirds are go!!!!!!!!

Hi Sundog, no m8 nothing wrong with your eyes. The UK painted their Gulf Jags a very apt desert pink, of which the desert said "no way am I letting that colour desecrate my land" and promptly went about shitting it up.
Jokes aside, if you have a good RGB value I will check it out.

600 dpi eh? What actual dimensions will you be using?

And here I am thinking that my puny profiles @300 are nearly impossible to manage.

Re: Thunderbirds are go!!!!!!!!

Its true it is a hell of a load on the old CPU and RAM, so its a bit like the old A3 300dpi on the slot 2 Intels with a gig of ram.

Re: Thunderbirds are go!!!!!!!!

Here you go Jester, This is the closest that I've found to the Desert Pink used by the RAF.

Re: Thunderbirds are go!!!!!!!!

Here's the link, Most colour schemes of the RAF are on here. They are the truest too the originals that I've found.

Colour Reference Chart.

To get the RGB number, you may have to use a colour picker.

Re: Thunderbirds are go!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the link to the IPMS colour charts SD.
I am sure they are very close to the "original colour chips used by the RAF". However, I think even after short exposure in the cruel climate of the desert, they would have been altered dramatically. Its the operational colour I would very much like to nail, rather than the factory finish. Any ideas on that?

Re: Thunderbirds are go!!!!!!!!

Hi Jester, Been looking for what your after and it's a pretty hard call. I don't have the exact colour in RGB because they varied so much in shade once in the field.
I've put a couple of links so you can see for yourself, you've probably see them already.

Jaguar Colours

Jaguar Colours II

This is quite a good photo in showing the contrasts in colour.

#1 Is a guesstimate
#2 Factory Finish
#3 British Army Desert Yellow
All 3 are over lade with #2 Desert Pink, So to get the colour that your after m8 I think is up to you. Sorry I can't help more.
