Thumbs up Re: Supermarine S-5

Well I have to say it's an amazing piece of art you have made there. Love that plane along with the other racers from that period. Have them all in my FS9 .

Thanks Loke, Yep me too I love the 1920s and 1930s aircraft as well. they have an elegances about them like a thoroughbred racehorse beautiful in their design and powerful. A look that screams Art Deco, Smooth racing lines just pure class.

Re: Supermarine S-5

Thanks zenandzen,
I've looked at quite a few image's of the S-5 and the closest I have found to the earlier 1927 colour scheme is the Sky Blue of the RAF roundels from the 20s and 30s.

Re: Supermarine S-5

Well an update of the S-5. I've had to re-do about 70% of this A/C from engine, cockpit, panel lines and other odds and sods, But I think she's getting there.

Re: Supermarine S-5

Thanks Jester, I found it very hard to get a hold of any real data on this A/C, So most of it is from photo's and snipits of old film footage that I just still paused. She's not going too be 100% accurate this way, but you get the feel of her.

First profile and I'm sick to death of her Think my next one might be a Lanc's No bare mental in that

Re: Supermarine S-5

NICE SD One thing you might want to try; the finish on the polished bare metal and the gloss paint look the same. Maybe try smoothing the paint highlights so that they aren't like rippled metal? It might not work or look right but it's worth a try. If it does work it will really make your profile stand out even more
But it does look pretty damn good already

Re: Supermarine S-5

What a great subject, it really epitomises the Golden Age of flying. I think your metalwork, floats and shading are all working beautifully, SunDog. There is something confusing about the shape of the rear fuse, but I don't know what the original looked like, so it may be fine. Seeing this makes me want to do some of those weird and wonderful Italian flying boats of the 30s!
