nothing really visible, it's about music
Stick em down here

Hard to say which ones are really favorites, so I picked some that I like for a long time now and also representing the styles I listen mostly to.

Ayreon - Into The Electric Castle
Dream Theater - Images and Words
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
3rd and the Mortal - Sorrow
Chirra Niva - Liaison de la Morte

Re: Album top 5

I do not prefer a certain style or artist/group. I get fed-up with most music if I hear more then three songs from the same artist. My MP3 playlist is a mess really I do have Elvis Costello, Billy Joel but the next song might be something from Iron maiden or Rammstein.

I do have a light preference for

Shakira (who doesn't?)
Anastacia
Black eyed peas
Boudewijn de Groot
Frank Boeijen

The last two are a bit of old celebreties who sing in Dutch most of the time.

But anything goes. My music preference changes with my mood.

Re: Album top 5

Just 5? I'd have trouble limiting myself to 50!
Just 5 off the top of my head?
We're Only In It For The Money - Frank Zappa and the Mother of Invention
Hand Jive - John Scofield
Shack Man - MM&W
Where Have I known You Before - Return To Forever

(ok, top 6)
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

Just to comment on a few of already posted choices;
Stooges-Raw Power, great album but I don't know if I could include it without the first two, can you live without I Wanna Be Your Dog and TV Eye?
Beach Boys-Pet Sounds WHAT AN ALBUM! I'm not a huge Brian Wilson fan but this album is SHEER genius! (Also Smile)
LedZepplin: #3 and #4 Hard to do without 1 and Physical Graffiti...and all the others too, they're all REALLY great albums, top stuff!
Metallica, hmmmm...I really liked the first album when it was released but they got more commercial and over produced and my tastes had changed by the time of Master Of Puppets that I had developed a strong dislike for them. The original Garage Days was pretty good, a little more real and not too much gloss varnish on the production.
Shakira (who doesn't?) I do like looking at her
Serval, I've lost touch I guess, out of your choices I've only heard of Queensryche

FUN TOPIC!

Re: Album top 5

Bryan Ferry - Frantic
Barry Adamson - Oedipus Schmoedipus
Stern Meissen - Nächte
Chyi Yu - Stories
Smashing Pumpkins - Machina (1)

Not very coherent, I confess -especially since I like some Rammstein songs too.

Re: Album top 5

Hmmm......tough one. Ok, i'll give it a go. In no particular order....

Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a madman. Quite simply a masterpiece. Worth buying for the title track alone which blends an orchestra and choir with Randy Rhodes razor sharp guitar playing, rock, metal and classical collide with stunning results. Ozzy's first two album's were classics, forget the rest.

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime. Gotta agree with Serval on this one. Concept albums dont usually work but this one is awesome. A tale of an Orwellian 1984 style underground world where big brother does more than watch. The track "Revolution calling" steals the show and is amazingly catchy. I was lucky enough to see them play in London on the 'Mindcrime' tour where they played the whole album live, including the eriee atmospheric's between the songs "...perhaps you need another shot?"

L.A. Guns - Hollywood Vampires. Brilliant mix of driving rock music from the haunting ballard 'Chrystal Eyes' to the slow burning sheer brilliance of 'Over the edge'. Seriously under rated album, one of rocks best kept secrets.

Aerosmith - Get a grip. Could easily be a greatist hits album as it has so many hits on it. The centrepiece is the classic 'Living on the edge', a moody self destructive hard edged song which could easily be the soundtrack for the end of the world! There is also Crazy, Cryin, Amazing (all massive hits) along with Eat the rich, Fever and Flesh which Tyler uses as vocal punchbags....awesome!

Scorpions - Lovedrive. I was going to put Blackout instead but Lovedrive has Holiday on it so that won. Yep, this band proved that Germany can produce brilliant bands. The aforementioned Holiday is an acoustic guitar track with Klaus Miene singing over it, and then has an all out heavy bit in the middle (similar to Led Zep's Stairway..) There is also the bizarrely named 'Loving you Sunday morning' and the even more bizarre 'Another piece of meat' ("Hey lets go, dont put on a show, you're just another piece, another piece of meat") Class! Why do I keep humming Blackout though?
