Firefox Browser Accessories

Hey all, I don't know how many of you use Mozilla Firefox, I've been using it for a few months and I find it to be much better than IE. I found a couple of things for it that seem to make browsing even more enjoyable. I hate popups and ads on pages that flash and move and generally are distracting (to me anyways, I guess that's the point of them though )

One is called Adblock, it is very simple to use, all you do is right click on an ad, and window pops up with the address of the ad, and you block it. (I usually just shorten the address to the main ad website where it came from instead of the specific ad to keep from having to block every single ad.)

The other is called NoScript, and it doesn't allow scripts to run unless you allow them. It is also useful for blocking annoying ads and such, as well as adding a bit of security to your surfing. It pops a small bar at the bottom of your screen telling you what scripts are attempting to run. You can choose which to put on a safe list, and which ones not to allow at all. You can also temporarily allow a script to run for the time you are on a site.

I find them very nice, and once you get them setup with your preferences you hardly notice them at all.

Re: Firefox Browser Accessories

Adblock and NoScript are my two favorite addons for Firefox, always the first things I add to a new installation. Certainly worth checking out. I love those addons' ease of use.

Re: Firefox Browser Accessories

Another nifty thing with Firefox is the search engine bar, to which you can add lots of things:

Name: Untitled 1.jpg
Views: 41
Size: 40.6 KB

I've added lots of aviation related stuff to it, as well as dictionaries, translators, etc. Maybe one day someone who can program will set one up for SPS?
