My first Painting

Hello and a happy new year from germany

Its my first work on Il2. It is a Spitfire based on the Template for the IX and Vb Models, which I found here. I hope you will like it!

Re: My first Painting

You did a good job here.
But if I may be so free...
You made a common mistake here.
You imitated the colors from the photo. But this photo clearly shows it is too red. Look at the gras and corn fields.
This gives a purple look to the grey and brownish look to the dark green.

Since especially US and UK colors are very well documented (though there is allways room for discussion), it is best to follow the colorlists that can be found at several places. Use photo's as reference but be wary with taking colors from them.
Light (sun, cloudy etc.), time of day, type of film used, camera used, age of the photo, etc. are all causes to make colors look different from the real thing.

Below a few examples what light and aging can do to a photo.
The first thing is the original screenshot.

Re: My first Painting

IPMS has them with a colorserver, and look here in the menu under Color swatches.

And if you used one of the templates like you said, the colors in the template probably are pretty good.

BTW: I forgot to say, but I used some filter that imitates the effects of various film and photography situations.
