Weathering

My first attempt. (sorry if in wrong area to post)
Using the tutorials here this is what i came up with for the tailfin on an F-16 i'm working on in Wings over series.
Looks better, but still kinda 'newish' tried to lighten it up for sun fade (more then it is now) yet it looked over done when i tried.

Before

After

Re: Weathering

Use the opacity of the weathering layer(s) to tone down effects when you think it is overdone.
The rest is a proces of trail and error and personal taste.

Re: Weathering

Yes it's really personal taste. Already I think you've done fine at breaking up the 'solid colors' effect, which is a good starting point. As Serval says, try the opacity on the weather layer for adjusting the subtlety of the effect.
