Gimp question

Is there a line tool for Gimp. It's one of my most used tools (panel lines etc) so i have to save and close down Gimp and open up in MS Paint just to draw straight lines.

And doesn't it draw a straight line when you click somewhere and then click at another place while holding SHIFT (or ALT or CTRL)?

Yeah i've been through that tutorial. Must be me since i can't figure it out.

The other method i don't know lol, I'll have to try it out.

ST, just click where you want the line to start (using your brush) and you'll get a dot of paint. Then hold down the shift key and you'll see a guide line appear from where you last clicked with the brush. While holding shift, align the guide where you want the line, and click again. Instant straight line.

If you want to continue from the end of that new line, just hold shift again and repeat. If you want a NEW line, start from the beginning and make a single click where the new line should start.

This will work just as well, probably much better, than Paintbrush. It's not as flexible as using paths though, but it will certainly get the job done. All of my skins in Photoshop use this exact technique.

Oh, and another use for this shift/click technique. If you use a 1 pixel brush, and set the brush spacing really high, say 200 (on the brushes dialog, be aware you can TYPE in a number higher than what the slider will go up to!) you'll get a dotted line,which is what I always used for making super fast and straight lines of rivets.
