German propellor blades

I've read that the German propellor blades was painted in RLM 70 granitgrau, but here RLM is refered to as being Schwarzgr?n. Is it the same colour, just 2 different names for it?

Also read that the Do-217 blades were painted in RLM 74, can this be correct?

I'll have to look that up...
But I know RLM 70 was used for propellor blades. That's also listed in our RLM list BTW.

http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/black6/black6-09.jpg Granitgrau or Schwarzgr?n? Hmm I would say you can call the colour both names. But it sure fits with the colour in your RML list

Re: German propellor blades

There is no "granitgrau". Whoever called it that is pulling names out of a hat. RLM 70 has always been refered to as "schwarzgrun". Please see my post regarding Luftwaffe colours and nomclementure for a complete list of Luftwaffe colours and proper names. Propellers were almost always RLM 70 but on rare occasions could be RLM 22. It's difficult to know for sure with so little colour footage.

Wrong. It's a RAL color (RAL 7026), which makes sense to me using RAL colors instead of RLM colors for parts like prop blades.

Re: German propellor blades

One thing to remember, it's not what you call it, RLM 70 is RLM 70, whether you call it black-green, schwarzgrun or anything else. Basically, unless you've got good solid info that your particular plane has something other than RLM 70 on the prop blades, then they should be RLM 70
