A minor Problem:Could use a little advice

I'm working on several BOB 109's and I have a white 1 number that needs a black surround.I'm going to layer style as I've done many times before but it's not working with white.Never had this problem before but it just wont to work for me.
I'm sure it's something easy that I've missed.Never a problem with yellow, red, green, or black numbers, but I'm flunking out with white.Wonder what I'm doing wrong?

Oooohhhh, need to know more. Photoshop? Or something else?
Also, not sure what you mean by "layer style."

Of course I'd strongly recommend using vectored paths...but I bet no one else would

I'm sorry I should have mentioned that I'm working with Photoshop..

What I normally do once I have put the number lets say in place on the fuselage is free transform, and when everything looks good I go to Layer, then layer style and add the color surround. It just doesn't seem to work for me when I use a white number.Weird!

I assume you don't use pure white.
Though I tested with pure white and that works.

What happens, is the option greyed out? or do you get the window but nothing happens when you set the properties?

Try a new layer and a new document see what happens there.

Interesting annotation..Mmm!

I'll go back and try once more and let you know what the end result and correct colour is.
Thanks to both of you .

Don't know what to make of that. You're using a type layer? Or has it been rasterized? I don't suppose there any weird layer things activated?
Also, just for argument, try shifting the number up one pixel and then back. Sometimes layers can be tagged as not to be moved somehow, moving it breaks the spell...so to speak. Also, check to see if your layer is looked or linked to other layers.
I think I'd need to be able to look over the PSD to see what's going on :P
Weird.

Hey ther Chris...I think your issue may be in the Layer Properties Menu. Heres an illustration of what you are trying to do and the settings I used to get it.

hope this helps m8

Cheers

If you want, send me the Letter your working on in Photoshop as a PSD format, I'll do it in Paint Shop Pro and convert it back and ship it back to you.
PSP doesn't have that Issue with outlining letters for some reason.
