Poll: Simmers Paint Shop and YOU!

Serval and I have been having some discussions about the future of Simmers Paint Shop, and the ideas of some future features. We have a few ideas, but aren't sure whether YOU would be able to make use or WANT these additions.

So we ask for voting and comments on these ideas:

Simmers Paint Shop Wiki

This will be like most other wiki systems, and will support user created content. Items in the wiki don't need the same detail as say, an article in our tutorials section, and thus can be more easily created and edited by all. Some ideas we've had for categories include skinning terms dictionary, repositories of simulator related links and info, and aircraft and profile dictionaries.

Simmers Paint Shop Member Blog

This would be a blog page for any member who wishes to have one. Here members can post as often as they like on their own topics and activites. Other members can comment on your posts. You can link to this blog as your own homepage, basicly it would be just that. We've imagined this can be used for things like skinners who post running updates on their new skins, or work in progress. Profile artists can use the blog similarly. And of course for all those non flight sim things we do, there is room for that as well.

Vote and/or comment on these ideas. Tell us what you'd want to use.

Well, as I post this, each options has one vote I voted for the wiki like system. In my mind, it is like the website: Oblivion:Oblivion - UESPWiki AM I right? I find this kind of sites great to use and very easy to find the proper information. I find a blogging system rather less attractive. But I don't get the whole system of blogging anyways. In my mind, it is like a Diarry wich everyone can read. It has zero intrest to me. The idea to write everything down, all of your joys and gripes doesn't have a great deal of value to me. I hear enough angry and sad people every day at work.

But there are other people who like blogs appearantly, they are probably from Jupiter

Ow, and above all, keep in some kind of a forum where people can interact with eachother. This is also some kind of virtual club of equal minded people, a social occasion.

You are right about the Wiki idea. Add some content that explains various things of interest to our visitors.

The Blog is not really for people to tell how they feel on day X, but to keep a public diary about SPS related projects they do. Be it skinning, drawing a (series of) profile or maybe even building a scale model.

Fun for others to follow and for yourself to look up later how the progress was.

What keeps a person from doing that right now here on this forum then?

They can do it now also.
But you can see a blog as a "private" piece on the site where all your work/posts are kept together.

I voted for the Wiki system, I think it's a good idea.

As for the blog system, I don't see so much use for it. I'm not one to read blogs either :P though.

Both are implemented. Though due to some software conflict, the wiki system is down atm. We hope that will be solved soon.
