Cool
I had just opened the box, and played it once when I posted that.
Now I've Had some time with it, and Have a better idea about it.
I'll just say, "Its no IL2"
If IL2 walked into a room with it, IL2 would turn its paints pocket inside out. And Bod 2 would hang on to it, and follow IL2 around
Its not like you can even compair them to each other. The game is very ruff around the edges, laggy. First thing I saw after installing it was a pop up screen saying I need some codec to play it correctly. And it provided a link. So I followed it......... The codec cost $14.95! WTH is this!
But it will play without it. I'm still running a older Nividiots driver, one that drives IL2 good. So that might be it.
But! It does do a few things better than IL2 ever has. Like the sound, Good Lord. Awsome does not begin to describe it. You get into a dog fight with a spitfire, and get behind him, you can here his engine, loud, and when he cuts across you it sounds like a flyby does on the ground.
Also, the AAA, and explosions are very cool. I took a 110 in for some mud moving over southern england. I spotted a RAF airfield, and decided that would be my target. As I dove in, it was awsome. Their is a bright flash when flak explodes near you. And the sounds, again, they just rule. The tracers flying by, combined with the sound makes for a very realistic experience.
I think with some time, and a patch or two, this game will become something to really talk about. Right now, like I said, its just buggy.
But I am glad that I decieded to buy it. Its an open sim that we can play with. So that means whe finaly have a modern WW2 flight sim, that can be moded. So expect some nice Third party stuff in the future.
