Template Lost?

I was working on a template when GIMP froze up. I shut it down manually in Windows Task Manager. When I try to open the template again, I keep getting this message:

--Error loadingPSD file: Unexpected end of file--

When I right-click on the file, it reads '0 bytes'. That is scary. Is the template gone forever?

Re: Template Lost?

Yes, it is lost.
So, besides saving your work regulary, you should allways make a copy every now and then, preferably on a different disk/memory card then you keep your current work on.

Re: Template Lost?

Wow, that's awful. I didn't know that could happen. I had a lot of time invested in that Template. Ironic that I clicked on 'Save' when it froze up.

I've been getting a lot of freezes with GIMP 2.6.6, compared to none with an earlier version. That's why I was saving quite a bit. However, I never thought I could lose an entire file.

I just installed 2.6.8, so maybe that will be more stable.

Re: Template Lost?

Same thing happened to me in PS. Lost an entire piece of work. Since then I make backups constantly.

Re: Template Lost?

While I have you guys here, I'd like to ask you another question.

When I updated GIMP to 2.6.8 the other day, the process created a folder named 'gegl-0.0' in My Documents. Inside is another folder named 'plug-ins', containing a file named 'Makefile'. Can I delete this or do I need to move it somewhere?

I've moved it to several locations and GIMP seems to work just fine. Is it one of these folders that I can simply delete?

Re: Template Lost?

I hope Adlabs can help you with this question. I don't use GIMP myself

Re: Template Lost?

Aviar, I'm running GIMP 2.6.7 in Windows 7, and I also have this same folder and file.

As I understand, it is related to the operation of the GEGL software used within GIMP. Some kind of temporary files apparently. Some users have reported that when they delete this folder/file, it's recreated when the GEGL software is run by GIMP. So don't be surprised if this should happen.

I just left the folder there on my machine.
