saving your skins

hi there. as norm doing my skins for the squad. but the way i use to save them (indexing) make s the skin some what lack of quality. Is indexing the only way to get the files size appropriate or is there another way to help save the detail? if you would like to see what i mean, is shall upload some pictures...

Re: saving your skins

Nah indexing is not that good if you have a lot of colours in your skin.

Look this site over for a prog called "B.R.I.G.H.T.", it does a far better job of rducing the colours to 256.

Ah so its not on this site, but it is here ---> Bright - Texture Converter

There is a "Batch" file available on this site though, if you get stuck, just shout.

Re: saving your skins

Ok just in case we are/were not talking about the same thing, try this--->
http://premium1.uploadit.org/JeSTeRs//bright.zip

There are 2 files in that zipped folder.
Save your "flat 24bit" .bmps into that unzipped folder from your gfx editor (photoshop/gimp/paintslop). Then double click the "cog/gear" looking icon.
If all is well, you should see a black popup box with a bit of white text on a black background flow for a while.
When it is done, the box will close and in the folder you should have your 1mb (1,052,672 bytes on disk) skin ready to use.

Good luck.
