Question How do you load TTF files into the GIMP?

Awesome site guys!!

You all have helped me bridge the gap from being just a simple mission builder to becoming a simple skinner. I was hoping that the answers to these questions would be able to help those of us stuck with freeware as our means of artistry.

Anyhow, does anybody out there know how to use the true text files (.ttf) in the GIMP?

Also as an aside, does anybody know how to make custom brushes in GIMP so that I could start shading and highlighting my skins?
