Moving layers

Right now I'm moving layers one step a time. Is there a way of moving layers more quickly and to the place I'd like them to be? The choices I have right now are only; one step at a time or to the topor bottom. Ex; Sometimes there are cammo layers that are seperate (Greens are in the middle of the vertical list and dark greys are down at the bottom) and that I want to move the greys upward so that they are togther with the greens so that they are all together into one group. Is there a way of holding down a button on my mouse for instance and guiding it upward then releasing the button where I want the layer to be?
