Yep, those using overlay look good. I often try some different techniques on each skin, as I really enjoy the different processes as much as skinning!

Hi Wildbat,
Really great detail on the 190! How do you go about making those larger screw holes? They look very effective as well.

Yes, that's a good tip. I play around with the blend modes a lot, particularly for highlights and shading FX (in EAW we have to do all these ourselves - no fancy game engine to do all the lighting FX for you!).

On panel line and rivet layers I actually prefer to draw them as Raster layers and then convert them to Brightness/Contrast Adjustment layers. This gives a lot better results particularly when you have backgrounds with highly varied brightness - like D-day invasion stripes for example.

Everyone has different techniques, and it's great to have a board like this where we can share and learn from them.

Chompy.

The big screwholes. wow.. cant even remember hehe so I went and looked at the layers.

is is a 3 layers job.

3 Screw it self
F Finnished

All set with overlay in the layers box and 35% transparancy.

Oh I do too..experiment that is.

Last thing is making the rivets on some of the planes look like they bump in and not out.

I am currently experimenting making planes look dusty as I am doing desert paintjobs for 'MAW' Mediterranean Air War for Combat Flight Simulator 3

Here is a look at one of my templates

Re: How to draw lines of rivets in PSP?

This one is for Snake. I'm using PSP 9 but my plug-ins won't work. Says they can't be found even though I find them in the Plug-in folder. What could be the cause?

Re: How to draw lines of rivets in PSP?

Thats a good sandy effect WildBat. Using some slight variations in saturation over the surface could also help create the feeling that the surface color is obscured a bit.

And to tommytone... YES now Serval has refreshed my mind on this PSP plugin issue! Try using the DLL files Serval has suggested (in the other thread where you posted) from our "Tools" page. They are what I think has helped other PSP users in the past with plugin troubles.

Thanks to Serval for pointing that out!

Re: How to draw lines of rivets in PSP?

Combat Flight Simulator 3 from M$ (CFS3 for short ;-) )

Been flying CFS, CFS2 and now 3 since CFS came out so many years ago ;-)

But the scenery in these shot are not the out of the box CFS3!

it is the MAW (mediterrenean Air War) The Desert Rats project of which I am a member.. a big addon standalone CFS3 that will emerge in 4-5 months time if all goes well. been underway for more than a year now.

Click the Desert looking banner... and take a look at the progress link
