Corel Paintshop pro

I just installed Paintshop pro X, if someone could help me. Where do I go from here? Step by step please. I'm interested in making skins for IL-2. I have no computer skills.

Re: Corel Paintshop pro

I guess it would be wise to read some of the tutorials on this site. It would also help to download some pre-made templates from the aircraft you want to skin. But not all templates can work with your PSP. Do you want to skin any specific aircraft? Or just an easy one to start with?

And keep on asking.

Happy skinning

Re: Corel Paintshop pro

I would like to skin the FW-190/A. My basic problem is total unfamiliarity with computer drawing. I know how to draw with pencil paintbrush but it's the software that I have to get familiar with.

Re: Corel Paintshop pro

Take a look at the tutorials here. Not only the PSP ones (which we are lacking at the moment), but also those of Photoshop and the general ones. Since though things might work a bit differently, the basic idea is still the same.

Here are some basic tutorials to familiarize yourself with Paintshop Pro
Paint Shop Pro 5 Tips & Tricks
Paint Shop Pro Basics and Tools - Tutorials for Beginners
Paint Shop Pro 7 Tutorials

The first one also explains layers. Make sure you understand that part well. Since that is what we use a lot in skinning.

O.k. First of all I have no 16 million colors button. but besides that. How do I move the template from my file to PSP? I figure I should start from that point

Re: Corel Paintshop pro

Open the zip then just double click the PSD. It should open right away in PSP, then you can start checking the template out.

Re: Corel Paintshop pro

If double clicking does not work, then choose Open from within PSP or rightclick the file and then choose "Open With" there select PSP.

Re: Corel Paintshop pro

I have a template and added RLM color swatches to the pallette. I can add the color I want But I don't know how to use the Airbrush. Please be patient with me step by step.

Re: Corel Paintshop pro

Make sure you know how selections and layers work as well.
In templates with many layers somethings your brush is working fine but due to a selection you made or because you are drawing on the wrong layer it looks like nothing is happening. This because you try to draw outside the selection or are drawing under something like the fixed parts layer. Also a layer is sometines locked so you cannot draw on that one.

So, also test some basic things in a new empty drawing, so you know how the tools behave before getting confused by complex templates.
