Smaller pixels????

I have a Pixel question I did some rivets @ 1pixel but on the skin they look to big is there any way to go smaller??
I was going for the counter sunk effect seems a little to big
below are some screens of the skin is it the shading are they passable??

You cant make a pixels smaller naturally, what i would do is to remove the black border around the 1pixel small white rivets, thats what makes it so big. As for the desired effect, just make a copy of the white rivet layer, invert it to black, move it by 1 pixel. Experience with the directions, opacity and some blur. And if it still looks too big you cant do anything just further reduce opacity

yes I was doing them the way you suggest but they don't come off as counter sunk as the way I have them
