Panel line change color

What I want to do is duplicate my black panel lines layer and change the color to a dirty brown and add blur to make a dirt effect. How do I change the color in a new duplicate layer. I tried, replace color in the image adjustment menu , it didn't work. Thanks

Re: Panel line change color

There are three tutorials about replacing colors. One of them should work.

Re: Panel line change color

It's not working because your lines are black (colour adjustment does not work on black or white stuff). Try this:

1 - Duplicate your black lines layer.
2 - On the new layer, open the "curbs" dialog (Ctrl-M)(sorry, my PS is in French so I don't know the exact English term). Select "Red" from the pull-down menu. Now type 256 in the "output" field and click OK. This should have changed your lines into pure red.

From there on, you can use the color replacement menu and do what you want. I hope this helps.

Why so complicated? Just go to the layer effects, choose color overlay, select the color you want and it's done...

I don't know the color overlay thingie (or maybe I do but I don't recognize the French term for it). Plus, my solution isn't that complicated.
