Need help with circles

How do I draw a circle in Photoshop CS. The only answers I find are telling me to use the marquee tool. I tried it but it doesn't draw the circle. Do I have to draw a filled circle then put in a smaller circle in and use the eraser to get the line?

Re: Need help with circles

In my Photoshop Elements version, if I click and hold on the marquee tool, there is a popup menu that allows selection of square or circle marquee.

Then hold shift while dragging the shape to constrain to a perfect circle. After making the marquee, you can stroke it with the desired line weight and color.

Re: Need help with circles

Hey glad to help!

For Paintshop users, I'm not sure how the interface works. In Gimp, there are separate buttons for these marquee shapes in the latest version.

BTW, I've added some tags to this thread to help others find this info in the future.

I do know how to make the marquee, but so far I've only been able to fill the marked area, and not to only draw the outline. It's probably something very simple, but I don't know how......

Re: Need help with circles

make sure if you want an outline only that fill is set to 0% so you only see the stroked outline too.
