General Tutoring

Hello all;

I'm new to this forum and an absolute neophite at this whole "skinning" thing, so forgive my ignorance please. I see several item-specific tutorials here, but they seem mostly to be aimed at those among us who know what the heck they're doing. Is there a reference I can go to that will provide some step-by-step tutorials on how to get started? Here are some things to keep in mind: 1) I'm using Photoshop Elements 5.0; 2) Most tutorials for Photoshop don't teach aircraft skinning as part of their cirriculum (go figure...); 3) I'm OLD, so my brain doesn't catch on as fast as you youngsters.

And oh, by the way... just because I'm old doesn't mean I can't fly - so watch your six!

Thanks a bunch!

Re: General Tutoring

Well Old Feller

Look at my paint shop Pro tutorials, they are not Photoshop, but the principals are the same, the only differance between the two is the button configurations, and one program operates slightly differantly than the other.
Im so use to Paint Shop Pro now that when I open Photo Shop it takes me about 15 minutes to locate all the layer pallets and stuff again.
I hope you like looking at pictures, cause I use alot of them..

Re: General Tutoring

Here are various Photoshop tutorials:
http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...m37-photoshop/

These are some basics:

http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...photoshop.html
http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...photoshop.html

And then some more about skinning:

http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...ply-smoke.html
http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...ins-voids.html

Feel free to ask more.
There are stories which tell step by step what to do, but they are really long stories. We offer a lot of tutorials which explain one step.
Besides there is not one way to make a skin. There are a lot of ways that do work. That is why we offer lots of ways to do things in small steps. That way you can choose which way to go.

Best is to start with a template which you can find here. Get familiar with Photoshop and work from there.

Re: General Tutoring

Asking around also helps a great deal

Be sure to learn skinning now. Because when BoB comes out, it is going to be more difficult.
