Here are some tutorials: Simmers Paintshop - Profiles those are specific about profiling. But also browse the other tutorials since many techniques used for skinning also are usefull for making profiles.
After all in both cases you want to apply many of the same effects.
Thanks for the information and links. Maybe someday I can post something as good as you guys have posted on SPS. When I pick a profile to do, I will post some wip pics, Cause I will need some help Im sure of it.
I wont hesitate at all I need the help/comments. After doing some more searching, I found some people use the airbrush to apply the shading/shadows. Than use some blur to soften the color. Thats about were Im at Just messing around with a profile of a 109.
There are lots of tricks to do the job. masks and/or selections, fill the area and blur it. Gradients can help and others use the brush. It's just what works best for you.

I using photoshop by the way
That's the overly hard way which yields no better results then just doing it with feathered selections which is 10 times faster
