Question 2 Q's about making profiles

1) At which resolution do you make them? My last and only one, was done at 3000x1800. Good or bad?!

2) Any good sites with 3-view's pictures? I have searched and searched but not really found any good material .

Cheers

Re: 2 Q's about making profiles

Seems good to me. I usually draw 30cm-wide at 300 dpi, which is 3500~ px. So it's pretty close. Height varies according to the aircraft of course.

As for the sites, I don't really know.

Re: 2 Q's about making profiles

Aside from a few art magazines and printers who prefer 350 or 360 ppi, 300 ppi is the standard for a printed image. Decide what size you'd like it to be printed, at least width wise, and make your profile at 300 ppi and your set 24 inches would get you 7200 ppi. That's currently what I'm working on. 12 would get you 3600 ppi.
Of course if you're thinking purely digital, that's another story. :P

Question Re: 2 Q's about making profiles

Have one more question.

When you have made all the lines, rivets, paints and ect.
You are left with an outer black line around the profile. Do you just reduce it, or do you completely remove it?

Re: 2 Q's about making profiles

Why do you end up with a outline if you've made the lines yourself? You don't need one. If you do want a full drawing with an outline that's ok but you shouldn't have outlines of parts that aren't panel lines. Outlines will always flatten out your profile and undo all the work to make them look three dimensional.

Re: 2 Q's about making profiles

Luckily this time I have the outline on a separate layer, so it's not a problem to remove it.

I'm gonna start a new topic, so you good people can follow my work and hopefully guide me along.
