This is going to one continuous project. Just for the mere fact that were over 200 Gato/Balao/Tench class submarines built. Within those 200+, each one seemed to go through some kind of modification between patrols. Namely changes in tower structure and armaments. That doesn't even cover the post-war conversions such as GUPPY and radar pickets. Working on the pressure hull/main deck combination right now. Hard part is going to be the anti-air and deck armaments. Towers shouldn't be too bad....just have to make sure I get the right tower/sub combo.
Dunno if that would be too wise.....Official record of fleet boat vs. u-boat action......fleet boats: 2, u-boats: 0.
Fun part is for the pressure hull is going to be where the torpedo tubes are, due to the curves and indentions in those areas, both fore and aft. Also replacing the Electric Boat limber holes with the Government holes. Don't even want to think about trying to tackle the deck guns yet.....at least 3 different sizes, both left and right sizes. Maybe if I feel accomplished after this, I can tackle that F-4 Phantom profile...
