Re: duxford

You can pretty much walk up to anything in the American Hanger, the restoration hanger I wouldn't know. Perhaps if you ask on of the staff they might help you out.

Re: duxford

Most stuff is going to be off limits for obvious reasons, if one does it all will want to do it and a lot of people don't have a clue on how to treat aircraft so a good lens will do the job mostly.

However I've found dropping in mid week during the off season and sweet talking a member of staff has helped on a couple of occasions, just depends when you catch them.

Don't expect to be allowed anywhere near the flyers though for obvious reasons.

Never been to Hendon but still intend to go sometime, do they have more modern exhibits too?

Re: duxford

Next time you're over head further north, enjoy the hospitality that I'm sure John will offer, then I'm sure Jester will join me in taking you to Brunty for a very close look at the 104, it's more spacious inside than a Lightning

Re: duxford

The same problem as with all museums in the UK is the lack of space.
Most of the exhibits are right on top of each other leaving very little room for you to get the shots you need.

Hendon isn't as bad as Duxford for this, but some of the exhibits have poor lighting, such as the Battle of Britain hanger.

We've not been back to Hendon yet this year but have made two trips to Duxford and one to Old Warden. Saving pocket money for a trip to the big apple early next year so don't know if the boss will let us do any others this side of Christmas.
Would very much like to get back up to Newark and probably one or two of the other larger museums, just have to wait and see.
