Re: Thud !!!

Man O man!!! Fantastic!! Can hardly wait to dance with you again on other Century Series. Look forward to your F-100 NMF! What's next?

Don't forget that air scoop on the rear fuselage near the star.
Those bomb shapes and fins don't look right for Mk. 82s.
Extend that horizontal tail rearward-it's bigger than that.

Very impressive!

Re: Thud !!!

Thanks vacajun, I think i might do the F-100 as the next jet in this series.

The Scoop was fitted later than these renditions depict. I havenīt found a NM Thud with the scoop fitted so it might be a vietnam war thing.

The bombs are surpose to be 750 Pounders, I had pretty pure reference, but i have never seen those bombs carried outboard on anything other than the Thud.

Iīll elongate the horisontal stabilizers ! I thinnk you ar eabsolutly right.

By the way: I was contacted by someone who knew a great deal about the Thud, who told me that there a slight difference in the vertical stabilizer layout form the early to the late F-105Ds: Thereīs a "step" near the stabilizer root on the leading edge on the late models which isnīt present on the early models...How about that ! :-)

Thanks again for all of your help !

Re: Thud !!!

Thought about it...might be possible to convert the D-model to a B-model without too much trouble. But i think iīll do the F and G model instead...canīt decide !

Re: Thud !!!

AP,

Good comment from you on the aft fuselage ram-air scoop

"The hot and humid climate of Southeast Asia created problems for the capricious electronics, a problem encountered by virtually all advanced U.S. aircraft of the war. High ambient temperatures also exacerbated the F-105's propensity for engine fires due to inadequate cooling of the afterburner. Most of the aircraft deployed to Vietnam were eventually fitted with ram-air scoops to ameliorate this problem."

Re: Thud !!!

Really impressive work, AP!!

Final nits for D model would be to add under-nose ECM/strike camera detail, over-nose refueling receptical, and vertical tail tip ECM pods.
