Rockets technically aren't heavier than air machines, they are just chemical reactions in a tube, if you are talking about the stuff that the Chinese used.
I'm talking about something with wings and an engine with one of those big spinny things on it that you avoid most of the time.

I stand by Supah. The Chinese beat everybody by about 2000 years at that game.
And then somebody slapped wing lookalikes and a couple of Sidewinders on those antique Chinese rockets and they called it the F-104.
It first happened in Somerset of all places, probably one of the few parts of England that still don't have electricity, bloke called John Stringfellow built a steam powered aeroplane that actually flew!
