Thanks GFR, I was just thinking similar thoughts about your latest P-51!
As far as the level of my portrait, it's better than I expected but less than I hoped for. I think it will take a few more tries before I can perfect people painting on the computer

Yeah, I'm still working on this overly fussy time waster.
One sleeve almost done...

I have all the leather coat pieces cut out and embossed. Now I'm adding shadow and highlight layers as well as burning and dodging the leather textures. Once I've got it worked up I'll blend parts of the leather better and rework some of the outline; right now they're still separate pieces.
I feel like a tailor!

Oh, man... This work is so time consuming... I can't imagine how many aircraft profiles you would do meanwhile instead...

Jokes aside, it's marvelous. The only thing I'm not sure is the look (or the color) of the leather flying coat...
So far it looks more like a modern sheepskin coat...
