I guess I should rework that wheel a little, indeed. It's a nuisance to draw correctly at this angle. For once, it's easier to draw this aircraft with the gear down instead than up.
I've also added a highlight to bring out the nose's shape.
Here's Welch's aircraft during the Pearl Harbor attack:

The markings are based on other aircraft from the unit and educated guesses as there are not that many pictures to use, and none of the actual aircraft. Prewar rudder stripes have been overpainted in OD. I figured the aircraft should be moderately weathered only. Although they were flying a lot, they weren't under wartime conditions yet.
Next one will probably be Welch's wingman, Ken Taylor. It looks very similar to Welch's aircraft. One big question is the code it carried: according to most sources it should be 155, but some claim it is 316. Anybody have a clue?
