Re: My first profile

Oh I should mention, the image wasn't appearing earlier was our fault.... due to some behind the scenes work going on with the site.

Re: My first profile

Very nice first work! One thing you can do also is post 100% scale samples to show areas of interest. I like your paint chipping.

Re: My first profile

Really a lovely profile !

Maybe I could add a small opinion : I think that the engine cowl lights effects and propreller axe location could be improved (it's a D-5 to D-22 series, isn't it ?).

For the rest, no comment, that's just great.

Keep that beautiful stuff up !

Kind regards,

Macwan.

Ah, thread necromancy...a lost art.

Yes, that's a Pacific-based Thunderbolt -- my guess would be New Guinea circa summer/autumn 1943. No idea of the unit, though -- perhaps GFR could elaborate. Wouldn't mind skinning that baby for IL-2...

Re: My first profile

Jeez, never expected to see this thread again! I Haven't looked at this profile in quite some time, and it makes an interesting(for me) comparison to my current P-47D work, and how far I think that I have come since then. I was never particularly happy with the white tail FWIW, and think I will give it another crack in the future.

Anyway enough about me.
From WiKi's p-46 survivors list

P-47 Thunderbolt survivors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

P-47D-4RA c/n ?? 42-22687, ex-5th AF / 49th FG "71" (Pilot: Lt. James W. Harris III) - Gusap Airfield, ex-5th AF / 58th SG /386th SS (CRTC School) (Pilot: 1st Lt. Marion C. Lutes) - crashed: 29 April 1944 - Finisterre Range

Then, and as found, its currently under restoration to airworthy here in Australia with HARS, hence my original interest.
