MiG-21 FL

Hi,
A friend kindly provided me with rare image of a Algerian air force MiG. Unit unknown, time must be in the late 60's, early 70's.
Very simple metal livery.

Roundels only on the wings

The fin flag is reversed on the right side, green first. I've checked pictures, it seems to be the rule…

Hope you like it.

Btw, don't know if i should post the perspective renders here... So you can see it here if interested.

Cheers

Re: MiG-21 FL

Isnt the upper panel on the tail normally a di-electric panel too? Or was this only in later versions?

It's metallic on the FL ("izdelie 77") , well at least metal painted don't know if it is really metal, like on the indian air force FLs... It's the way to tell between a FL ("izdelie 77") (Board fin, non-blown flaps, one piece canopy...) and the very similar early PFM (also "izdelie 77"), less than 200 build , used only by the VVS i think... Later PFM ("izdelie 94") had the two pieces canopy and the blown flaps.

Learn something new everyday! There are so many subvariants of the old 21 I could never tell them apart.
