Re: La-11 Fang

Nicely done Darko I think the effect adds a lot! Glass looks good too.

Re: La-11 Fang

personally I do the same but manually. I chose bigger size brush and where I want more subtle shadow, I go more outside of the shape to just hit it with the border of brush.
IMHO the tail is too much on your drawing...but else nicely done...

Re: La-11 Fang

Perhaps the trailing edge could do with a smaller shade but overall I think it adds to the profile more then it distracts. You could draw it like you said but IMO that only makes it more labour intensive and the level of control you mention could as easily be achieved in a faster way by shifting the selection about a bit.

Re: La-11 Fang

Just tried both techniques, and seems that both got nice result. Practically the identical.
One can also use the brush with "stroke to path" command, thus avoiding manual work and get the perfect brushed line.
I allready used Pillan-Supah-Vacajun technique on La-11, and will try stroke with brush on my next Siebel project

Re: La-11 Fang

Another update. Started with exhaust smoke, highlighting and underwing surfaces. Also I removed overdone tail shadows.
Not 100% satisfied and will try to refine this further.

Re: La-11 Fang

This should be the last step in the profile of La-11
Profiles here shows "White 27" from 1948 Soviet expedition to the North Pole, and the Chinese "Red 30" as was used during the 1950's. The last profile shows a template that I have used.
I would like to thank everyone for their comments.
For now, I am very pleased with the appearance of my second profile.
Now it is time for something German, twin-engined with a large glass cockpit
Thank You all!

Re: La-11 Fang

For a second profile I'd say you are off to a very good start
