Re: Ju88A

Hhhhmmmm interesting! I really appreciate you taking the time to render this off Ronnie. I will definitely adjust the shading on the nose and lower the opacity of the highlight on the fuselage. (also a bonus is the fact that you've shown me the shadows ). Man I've gotta get a newer machine so I can run Modo for just this kind of reason.

Thanks mate!

Clint

P.S. I've just noticed your edit: I will look into the harder contrast also. I'm quite chuffed how close it is though.

Re: Ju88A

Great work Clint ! This is really starting to come together !

I think Ronnies rendition illustrates how the shadings "should be" in a very good way. Notice the small very focus highlight at the basis of the vertical stabilizer, might be worth adding too ?

Good work, and thanks to ronnie !

Re: Ju88A

Cheers AC Pro!

The thing is the highlights/shadows make so much sense when you see them on a render. You think damn I see it now why didn't I realise. Very interesting seeing them. Thanks again Ronnie.

Re: Ju88A

Glad to be of help.

There's a rendered side/top profile on my website, but thanks to the wild camouflage pattern (and opposite light direction) it's pretty useless really...
http://digitalaviationart.com/skyraider3d/ju88_2.htm

The base-of-fin highlight is very noticable indeed, and likewise the highlight at the tip. At these points the angle is the same as on the nose and they get the full intensity highlight.

Slight disclaimer... I can't guarantee that the fuselage cross sections are totally accurate on my model (which is nearly six years old now), but they won't be massively off, I hope. Of course shadows and highlights on a 3D render are only as good as the 3D model, and I didn't have nearly the amount of Ju 88 references then as I have now. Anyway, here's a 3D view of it so you can judge for yourself:

Re: Ju88A

Nose glass is too round I think Ron. The glazing was pretty slab sided. The one time you want flat shapes, the 3D program gives you round ones. Looks frightenlingly real otherwise.

Re: Ju88A

Have a Google for the Ju 88 S and T
http://vwings.net/dnl_fucida/stale_s...88/ju88_21.jpg

They're late production, streamlined bomber respectively reconnaissance aircraft.

My 3D model represents a Ju 88 T-1. Note the twin camera ports in the lower fuselage.

Re: Ju88A

Hi Otter

Should be the same fuselage on all Ju88 (even 188) variants except the nose and tail and wing assemblies (also an extended fuselage on [H series 17.5m longer] but just an extension of the existing bomb bay section so also the shading would just extend also). So the render shows the fuselage shading ok.

Cheers

Clint

Re: Ju88A

I've adjusted the nose highlight to match Ronnie's render (a marked improvement IMH and had a play around with the opacity of the shades under the fuselage to add a bit more contrast where it curves under. Also toned down the main fuselage highlight. Any comments are appreciated gentlemen.

Re: Ju88A

Looking good Clint. All it needs now is some panel lines and a big ole' bucket of weathering! O, and engines.
