Looking great Clint.

Try varying the "shadows" around your panel lines a little as it's very uniform and quite thick now. Select a few panels and get a big fat erazor over them, at say 25-50% opacity. Do this a few times randomly.

Rivets are the bane of my life! Also these Jpegs are washing out my images ever so slightly.

Re: Ju88A

Hey Clint, you might want to tone done the automatic shading techniques. It looks like you lost control of that panel with the swastika on it; like it's a quarter inch armor applique. That metal is looking pretty thin to me on real planes. Do you have photos of that part of the recovered plane?

You might want to work on your red markings too. The white and black markings look good but the red stuff looks like red markup, it doesn't look like it's part of the tail surface. Or IMHO it does. Probably lightening or darkening and desaturation will fix that.

Fun details though, it must be fun working all that stuff out

Re: Ju88A

Hi Blowhard

That panel certainly wasn't armour plate so yep it needs toning down a bit. Good call on the red it's a bit ******** at the moment. Hhmmmmm the details are kinda fun but the rivets are doing my head in big time. Where the panels on this bird overlapped quite a bit there are just too many rivets. I've learnt so much on this profile everything I've kinda re-learnt from scratch so what you see is still very far from what I want the outcome to be. I want it all rippled and stressed like the real thing. Gonna have to work that out when I refine it after all the essential work.

Cheers for your observations.

Clint

Re: Ju88A

Good deal though. If you're trying new things you'll be way ahead when you're finished.
The ripples are a tough thing. If you figure out a good way to do it, let us know.
This will certainly be one monumental profile when it's finished!

Re: Ju88A

Thanks Blowhard, I've sorted the thick Swastika Panel problem and De-saturated the red markings. Also a bit more work on the rivets (Horizontal Stab):

Re: Ju88A

hi clint,

may i suggest you remove the panel line preshading, it don't look right on model, it looks worse on profiles, apart from that ya doing great, the contrast between 70/71 is a little too much, but hey its your choice
