Re: I'm at it again

What do you mean "about to enter Monitor/printer calibration zone???"
Where do you think I was in 2007, or when I got my first computer? Printing profiles isn't my first taste, I got my first computer way back when to bypass photographic prints of my paintings I'm already on my second large format printer...and it's on it's last legs I think :P
My problem is I've been lightening/washing out my color a little at a time since I started. I went too far. Just a few adjustments is all I need

Re: I'm at it again

Sorry Blowhard I didn't realise you had already gone in deep and sorted your systems colour management and presumed this may be the prob with the lightening colour's. I just recall when I was at a design firm they had to go thru the process of fully calibrating all the monitor's, scanners, Lrg format printers with all the different printing firms that they used. Sticking an electronic eye to the monitor's and testing them and just remember it being a right pain in the ass for them with a lot of tweaking. I suppose having your own Lrg format printer and keeping it all in house is a result because you can see the results of any tweaks straight away. Do you print all of your own profiles for clients on your Lrg format? Just out of interest how much approx does it cost you for say an A1 print (aircraft in middle, bit of writing and rest white space) including ink usage and paper (not artworking costs?) PM if you want dude?

Thanks

Clint

Sorted? Hahahahahha, I never got that far. It seems it's never completely sorted. I'm only happy with my set up within reason and budget I do have my own electric eye though, I won it here in a fun contest

Geez, it's been a while since I calculated it...with the good 100% cotton rag paper and the nice ink it runs $12.59 a sheet. I'm sure you could get a LOT more expensive or a lot cheaper. That just what I'm running right now. Mind you, that's not A1, it's a custom size that I cut from a roll. I'm printing 13 inch by 25 inch paper right now. Really it's 12.95 inches wide, that's my max size.
I've been thinking of looking for a good quality printing business to try out instead of doing my own. It's a real pain :P
Does anyone else want to share their home printing prices?

The tough part is my printer isn't too fast. It takes almost 20 minutes running a 13 x25 sheet at full quality.
(I need a new printer)

Re: I'm at it again

Cool, thanks for the info. It looks to be quite a sensible investment having a lrg format printer. I use this company: The Giclee Service. Not that I get a lot of work printed but their prices are quite reasonable for one off's and even less if you order more. The paper and print quality is superb with a really quick turnaround.

Cheers

Clint

Re: I'm at it again

I kind of figured a bear metal job would be hard, but try reverse engineering your "painted" profile to bare metal!

Lucky for me Ryan supplied several good photos and details for this one.
It sure looks different

And...the A6M7 model 63. I realize it looks a lot like the 52s but there are differences.

Unfortunately it looks like I have a few details wrong on the 52c and 63. It will NEVER end!
