Ive just found your site again (been lost since 2007) but thanks for all the Birthday wishes when they appeared in my email.
Have got back into profile drawing via motorsport : Motorsport Profile Art
and have reworked some drawings I did years ago but they all all civil!! Is it ok to post them on here was thinking about drawing a BAe Hawk over holiday period.
Nice stuff, my uncle used to fly the 146s with AirUK, though that one looks like it needs a bit more work to it as the fuselage shading seems to be a bit out and is lost at the tail.

Inkworm - yes still trying to work out rear under tail area shading -having a look @ tutorials on here - your work is excellent.
Grubby - Im using CoreldrawX5 then bringing the layers into photoshop (I can't get used to ai) again excellent work from you both.

Everyone has their own way of doing things, but as well as gradients just take the opacity of the brush down to about 1%, soften it as much as possible and take up the spacing up a little in photoshop and slowly work it up to get the soft build up.

Nice! One technique I would like to impart is this one;

We make a selection of the path, fill it with black, contract the selection by about 5 pixels, feather the new selection by about 4 pixels and press delete and we get this.
Then we mess with the opacity till we get something like this
Makes it look a lot more 3D with very little extra effort !
