I'm glad to see some people are drawing the engine nacelle in RLM 81 Violet-braun. Most profiles show the fuselage in 81 and the nacelle in 82.

I'm not an experten, but what I've seen from wartime pictures shows the nacelle in a darker colour, not the opposite. (I just spent 2 weeks drawing a series of 20 He 162 so it's still fresh in my mind )

The drawing looks good at this stage IMO. Maybe work some more on the underwing shading? Also, the aircraft should have a slightly nose-up attitude on the ground. You can easily recuperate that by deflating the main gear tires a bit. Most of the aircraft's weight was there, so it was more "pressed" than the nose gear. The balance was so light that when the guns were removed, the 162 would fall on its *ss.

Looking great so far, but the cockpit detail is lacking a few things. There is a strip olong the front edge of the canopy with ventilation holes in it which will definitely show in a profile. Your canopy release mechanism looks quite convincing. This still bothers me as I have never found any good photos of it. My line drawing is an educated guess. Good going! Hope to see it finished soon.

I will do the ventilation strip&holes thing, my fault, I have never noticed it.
About the canopy release mechanism - in the picture Peter has presented it is as a WIP. Peter has already a newer version where in open position the mechanism is in the open canopy part - the crank stayed with the movable canopy part. Keep watching this topic for updates

I know. But somehow, most people have represented the inverted colour scheme. Look at all the plastic kit boxes.

Gamary: Well. I never look on plastic model kits Most of the camos shown there are fakes, or made ups...I rather get photos and see it from there. Do not forget, that more than an aviation profilist I am historian So I know what is to look for historical relevance Now working on ZG 76...I bet also people from here will be happy, more that 90% Me 410 unpublished photos hehe

Hi together!

Some weeks ago I have finished more than 20 He 162 profiles for a forthcoming book from Classic Publication. I got some original documents from the He 162 regarding the camouflage. Sure is that the fuselage never was painted in RLM 81 (brownviolett). Difficult to answer is the colour of the tail fins as they are documented just in RLM 76.

So I decided to paint the early He 162 with RLM 81 fins (as 120015 now under restauration in France) and next production series with RLM 82 fins as the fuselage. As no colour images of these 2 series exist it's not 100% to answer which colour they had. From the next series with the RLM 76 fins some colour pictures exist.
