It couldn't possibly be my monitor.

Very nice overall! I like the little touches like the map in Jackie's cockpit.

There's something funky going on with your lighting around the chin scoop, though. It looks like a light diagonal line pointing towards the spinner? It appears on both, but is more obvious on Jackie. Also on Jackie, the shadowing on the spinner is too dark compared to the rest of the plane as well.

Here's a picture from LittleFriends.uk showing how good this profile looks!

The diagonal line that you mention is the prop shadow. Me I don't particularly care for them, but other Simmers seem to insist on me having them.

Looking again at the spinner you are probably right about the shadow being a little to dark, but I think its partly a consequence of the reduction in size and compression when converting the image to jpeg.

I'll make an adjustment to the master and see how it looks.

Its a good thing I added the almost to the thread title...eh?

Are you guys exhausted looking at these yet? Cos I just about am, its time to return to some of the many un-finished profiles in the queue...

One thing I have learnt here at SPS is that when BLOWHARD advises I listen, so I have toned down the red quite a bit, and the profile looks the better for it.

Also added yet another revision to my mythical 'Bottisham Four' series for your perusal.

Huh? What does BLOWHARD know anyway?
Those are looking SUPPER BEAUTIFUL!!!

One question, and I may have missed this somewhere, but doesn't Jackie's nose look more like yellow-orange (or faded orange) in the color photo? If you've researched it and red is correct, I'm sure you're right.

Did I mention how beautiful those P-51s are? !!!!!!!!!!!

You should never be sure of anything when it comes to my work.

I'm really not the guy that does mountains of research for any profile, other than looking as closely as possible at whatever images I have to hand. And when it comes to 'Jackie' there are quite a few good clear shots of her in various versions of the scheme that I have posted above.

As for the spinner, I kind of have my doubts that it would be anything other than one of the 3 visible shades of red that seem to be evident on the couple of colour images that I have of 'Jackie'. The only way that I can see it being "yellow-orange (or faded orange)" is if that was the colour underneath the Blue diamonds, and everything I have says that its a shade of red. Not necessarily the shade of red that I have used, but a shade of red nonetheless.

As always, I'd be happy to hear/see proof to the a contrary.

In that case, you HAVE to make every version of the scheme, it's that simple

Just looking at this one color photo, I'd be 100% positive the lighter color of the diamonds on the nose is not the same color as the canopy frame. I do see that you have a step in color on your profile to reflect this but maybe you could make the difference more noticeable? Not just change the intensity but also the shade, maybe more warm instead of cold? I still see an amber or orange color there. The reds in the photo would have all degraded, I would expect the brighter red on the canopy frame to have faded to a more dull pale color as well.
But, like I said before, I'm sure you've got it the way you think it should be and that's good enough for me

Re: Fire up the band, I have actually finished a profile (almost)

Having recently purchased a brand new pc (oooooh... soooo... nice), I thought what better way to test its capabilities than to re-work some of the files that were beginning to be too much for the previous gen pc.

I promise that one day I will let this one go.

Next up is the Typhoon, man that was messed up. You guys haven't been paying attention.
