Re: FAB A-1

Hello, I have two corrections to make on your profile

1-Its Força Aérea Brasileira not Força Aerea Brazileira (Brasil in portuguese, Brazil in english

2-The brazilian air force doesn´t use the Sidewinder missile and the AMX doesn´t use any air to air missile, the only seen in the AMX is a dummy version of the future air to air brazilian missile the MAA-1 Piranha

Regards

Re: FAB A-1

I reckon this is what happens when one can't get really accurate drawings. In this case all the ones I found seemed to be miles out, so I drew my own from as many pics as I could get my hands on. Not as well as I had hoped, it seems. Like I have always said to myself, gotta learn this game somehow. If a redraw is now necessary, then so be it. One of the problems with aircraft photography, and this applies to everyone, is that each photographer uses his own choice of lens. This can give quite a different aspect to an image, so that the same aircraft can look quite different when taken by several photographers. To get an accurate image one would have to use an architectural lens, properly set up, from quite a way back, thus flattening it correctly. To get this idea better, imagine you are taking a picture of a large railway engine. Accuracy only comes in the way I have suggested. Otherwise the wheels would not be exactly circular etc. Walkarounds don't do it. They are too close. Therefore, the only real answer is manufacturer's original drawings, if they can be obtained. Looks like Ugo has an edge here!

Don’t give up Rat, at least you are making contributions atm, which is more than I can say for myself right now. You’ve made a good start into producing your own profiles and doing it in a whole new way, which is refreshing. Stick at it and as long as you are moving it forward and enjoying it, its all good.

Re: FAB A-1

Now we’ve got ourselves an FAB A-1 rigged out with a Mectron MAA-1 missile , instead of A Sidewinder. This was a pain in the ........ because I couldn’t find any drawings whatsoever for this weapon. So folks, I’m now in the missile business. I hope it will look something like what I’ve drawn. If not, tough. Won’t suit everybody, but that can’t be helped because time is definitely not on my side at the moment.

Chief, is "Força Aérea Brasileira" with a "S" and not with a "Z"... This is true Portuguese

Re: FAB A-1

Thanks for the language correction. My A-1 is supposed to be in Brazilian camo. I can never quite decide which language they speak in Brazil. Actually, most of my AMX info came off a Portugese site, no wonder I got a bit confused. I have always thought Embraer to be a hell of a good manufacturer. At least they are still making a profit selling to everyone else!
