Love them!
Catamaran is the best configuration, looking good!

Been trying my hand at NMF ... MAN I suck at it
Copy that.

A few bits of advice I found useful for NMF: lots of contrast and highlights, and you might even want to add a "reflection map". If it's true NMF, the panels should have slightly different colours but I believe most 104s were painted aluminium so it wouldn't apply.

Good luck!

Re: F-104G Starfighter

Nope none of them were painted aluminium, all just the bare aluminium sheet. There were some very high gloss examples but I wont be doing those to save my sanity Most of the Luftwaffe Luke AFB 104's and those in NMF in europe were pretty dull. The canadians and norwegians were a different story at times but I have seen dull examples of those too. Tonight I am busy but I will be messing with it over the weekend. Also have the tutorial to finish!

OK. Thought I'd read something somewhere to that effect but I was probably wrong.

I don't know. I sometimes think it can be easier to do them high gloss. Find a good picture on Google images that you can use as a reflection map and you have a good base to work on.

Getting the NMF to look dull, slightly corroded and weathered is not that easy. The amusing thing is that we all seem to do it in very different ways.

Re: F-104G Starfighter

I don't know, I've never been any good at NMF schemes so this is mostly an experiment for learning purposes for me Main reason to do this is to do the Luke AFB G models and KG-101 / FX47 restored machines.

Re: F-104G Starfighter

I always think the F-104 makes for a great NMF subject if a bit of blue is added in the highlighting. Hope you do a NASA bird!

NAS Oceana is having its annual airshow next weekend-hope to get some photos of interest. Langley AFB did not have a show this year-bummer--because of deployments.

Re: F-104G Starfighter

Slight blueing and some rivet effects plus panel staining. I tried making it bluer but that made it look worse
