Re: How can I make my own skins?

you need a graphic programm like photoshop, paint shop pro or gimp and warbirds

first, grab a template from here: WB3 Skin Templates

then, create the folder structure in your warbirds directory:

WarBirds Bulletin Board - Offline Warbirds SKIN help

another useful link:

Furball: 'Symptoms may include burning and itching.'

and for the rest you've allready found the right place, just ask here on this board

Ok Hubba Bubba !

First you need a graphics program like Gimp ( Free) Photo Shop ( not free)
It will cost you your first unborn child.
Or paintshop Pro.
Average Price about 79.00 but with some of the earlier versions Im certain you can find it much cheaper.
Once you have aquird your painting program have a gander or two or three at some of the tutorials posted here and they will get you up and running.

From one new guy to another. Start with putting markings on existing skins. then colours and textures. Then weathering and wear. The Hurricane II template is an easy one to start and looks great. Goof around with each of the layers in the template see what happens. Dont worry about hurting anything just dont save the changes yet. This site has great tutorials!

Re: How can I make my own skins?

Just an observation and a question from someone who should know by now:

Templates (or files that are designated as templates) ARE or ARE NOT considered free to use.
That's my question. Are templates available for everyone to use, re-work, repaint, etc.?
IF we use a template, is there an obligation to get permission? Is there an obligation to list credits?

Thanks,

Art

Re: How can I make my own skins?

You should always credit the Template artist on your own personal works m8. they are free to use and in almost every case, cannot be used to create payware without the express consent of the Template artist.

Hope that clears up the question for you m8.

Cheers
Randy

Re: How can I make my own skins?

It depends on the author of the template.
Very few don't mind you using it without any credits. Most demand credits for use of (parts of) their template.
And many also want you to contact them if you use the template for commercial purposes. Often such things are stated in a readme that goes with the template.
Contact the author of the template if you are not sure.
