First post!

Hey ho! I'm the first in here? Well that's a first for me

I gather there aren't any other guys from TW around here?

In case anyone is interested, we're here-
http://www.targetware.net/
We've got a few good skinners over there so take a look

Re: First post!

Welcome Blowhard.
Targetware is in our links section allready, but it never hurts to point people there.

Maybe you can tempt a few people with some screenshots of the various modules there are.

I still have to give targetware a try. Right now I'm setting up a new rig...
For me Targetware came in my vision as a possible candidate for a Battle of France project. And there the Dutch part is my main interest.

Or maybe screens of some of the skins I've done for the different modules?
Target Rabaul-

Target Tobruk-

And Richthofen's Skies-

Something for everyone here No real dynamic light source which really hurts the look of the planes in screenshots though. We really need sunlight but the TW engine is still far from done and new things are always being added.
Battle of France is an idea several others are thinking of starting. Maybe you can join with them Serval? If you're interested check the Target X forum at TW. Pretty sure there are posts about that. There is also a Fokker D.XXI in the works over there

Re: First post!

Looks really good Blowhard. I had a quick look at the site. It seems to be an online game only...am I right? Also, is there a full list of the available a/c anywhere?

Hunhunter, yes, it's focus is online play. You can fly offline now but we have no AI yet. Full list of planes, somewhere I think, let me see...

Re: First post!

Those are some really great skins. You mention no dynamic light, I didn't even notice on my first scroll through. Nice high res skins, and they look great.

Re: First post!

Thanks Adlabs 2 1024x1024 targas are really nice for skinning They are converted to DDS so there's a little compression mess but not too much.
This is a HUGE difference from the single 256x and later single 512x skins I was working in before
Right now we have a dead flat-ish light source. We have a simple but functional reflective mapping as well which comes in handy for gloss paint jobs like on the F4U-4. It's really only noticeable when the planes are moving.

Re: First post!

Just downloaded it. Looks good. I only got to play with it for half an hour as I am at work and have no joystick here. Found it difficult trying to fly with the keyboard (as expected), a control with mouse option (like Aces High) would be good for those of us sneaking a flight at work! It does load fast and I had no issues running it on a mid range PC.

I will d/l it again at home tonight and have a more thorough play

Re: First post!

Good to hear Hunter One of the hardest things for most people when starting out is getting used to the controls. Getting the stick settings just right takes a while, longer for some. There are a good many post on stick setup at the TW forums. I guess this is a problem to one degree or another with all flight sims. Too many different sticks
About mouse control, I think there was at one time. Maybe you can still set it up. I don't know my way around the set-up too well because I spend more of my time painting planes instead of being in them
I do hope you enjoy it though. Some times it's hard to find people online and other times there are good fights going on. Of course, being free during the beta, you can't complain too much

Re: First post!

Wow I had no idea that this existed. Looks and sounds pretty good, especially the WWI part. (I have a soft spot for biplanes.) As soon as I get moved and settled, (I will have cable internet!!!) I will download this.
