Question CorelDraw & Paint

Hi All,

My name is Ron and I live in a medium sized town about 45 miles NW of Chicago, IL in the USA, and I love airplanes!
I've been a member of this group for a while now, but the software that I use in my small business is CorelDraw.
I am amazed by the realistic effects that are posted by the artists on this site, definitely something that I would like to grow into.
Most of the work that I do is vector based for sand-carving glass awards, keepsakes, etc. I use the bitmap stuff to fix photographs and produce other graphics for the dye-sublimation process. I would love to be able to create realistic art that I could use with the dye-sub process.
This was once a hobby/business until 2008 when I lost my career as a microbiologist of 38 years. In my new life I flame work glass (glass blowing) and graphics to support the rest of my work.
I would like to know if anyone uses the CorelDraw Suite, and how much success they have with the bitmap Paint program.

Hi Ron, Welcome to SPS!

I've moved your thread to the "General Discussion" forum, hopefully it'll get some better exposure and a useful answer here.

Re: CorelDraw & Paint

I use and love CorelDraw for aircraft drawings and texturing. You have far more control than you do in Photoshop or other raster-based applications with a vector-based app.

I'd also be happy to write tutorials and share what I know with this site if you or anyone else is interested.

All of the artwork on my personal site was done in CorelDraw. Including the aircraft illustrations and website graphics. (I'm not selling anything on it so feel free to check it out.) David M. Eckert - Welcome!

I have also attached a sample image I created in CorelDraw.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Some basic and more advanced tutorials sure are welcome.
You can place them with screenshots in the tutorial section and we will hlep to adjust the lay out (that part can be a bit tricky)

Re: CorelDraw & Paint

Hi Serval,
Do you have a preferred size/type/format for the tutorials? I.e. MS Word, PDF, HTML, etc...

Thanks,
David

Re: CorelDraw & Paint

You can post them as a message in the tutorial section, upload the images etc. If you find that difficult, Just mail me plain text with markers where you want which images, attach the images (good quality but not too large) to the E-mail and we will post it for you.
E-mail can be sent to the admin account on this domain.

Re: CorelDraw & Paint

Hi David,

Look at some tutorials in our library and you can get a feel for the format. Mostly plain text with images illustrating a various points. As Serval mentions below, if you prefer just send in the text and images, and one of the staff can post and format it.

One of my own tutorials:
Panel Line and Rivet Shading

Thanks for offering the tutorials, by the way!
